Dr Paviour completed his PhD in 2006. He has published peer reviewed papers in high quality neurology and general medical journals.

Much of his published research is in the field of degenerative movement disorders.

Dr Paviour is currently the principal investigator (PI) at St George's University of London for several studies looking at clinical and genetic features of Parkinson's disease.

Dr Paviour collaborates with others on international clinical research in Parkinson's disease and attend regular interantional conferences on Parkinson's disease and other Movement Disorders.

Teaching and education

Dr Paviour is an honorary senior lecturer in the Neurosciences department of St George's Hospital NHS Trust, part of St George's University of London.

Dr Paviour is a lead examiner for St George's Hospital Medical School.
He teaches medical students and junior doctors and organise a Neurology training day for general medical trainees in the London region.
